Let The Word Flourish In You

“For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.” (Hebrews 4:2)

In the parable of the sower, Jesus referred to the Word of God as a seed, and our hearts as the soil. And by the instances He gave, the state of our heart upon reception determines the product it yields. In Isaiah 55, the Bible tells us that God’s Word never returns back to Him void; we either work out the fruitfulness it holds by walking in its reality, or we miss out on it all.

It says “For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it” (vv. 10-11).

He likened it to the rain, and snow, which waters the earth to produce the fruition of a greater harvest in green pastures. And so, what He really meant is that every Word of God you receive was designed to prosper you; to cause you to flourish in life and destiny; to cast a beam of light upon your path so that you never get to stumble again; and as in the parable of the sower, to give you a long lasting harvest that outlasts your previous limitations.

But as we are told in the parable, it is not enough to just receive the Word, it’s only enough when we let it conceive the beautiful harvest God designated into it for us. “But he that received seed into the good ground is he that hears the word, and understands it; which also bears fruit, and brings forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty” (Matthew 13:23). And this only one-quarter of people really practice as we can learn from the scriptural illustration; and as we also learn in the parable and our theme scripture they are those who nourish the Word received with absolute faith.

So you’ve got to believe it; you’ve got to believe every Word of God to receive the blessings it carries. Faith is how we make the Word work; it’s how we make it flourish in our spirits. When you receive a Word from God, believe it completely without doubt; and prove it by starting to live and act from its perspective. And remember you can trust it, because God doesn’t tell lies nor exaggerate. All He says is truth. You may not have accepted it as your reality yet, but it is the only reality He sees of you. Hence, believe Him; for His Word is like the rain- it doesn’t just return back, but supplements you until you become the blessing God says you are.

“For ye shall go out with joy, and be led forth with peace: the mountains and hills shall break forth before you into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands. Instead of the thorn shall come up the fir tree, and instead of the brier shall come up the myrtle tree: and it shall be to the LORD for a name, for an everlasting sign that shall not be cut off.” (Isaiah 55:12-13).

Confession:

The Word of God flourishes in me; bringing out the harvests of righteousness God expects of me. As I believe and practice it, it creates the realities it speaks of in my life. It brings into accomplishment all God has promised. In this regard, come hell or high water, I solemnly give myself to trust the Word at all times, because I’m confident it shall cause me to blossom, to the glory of God. Amen.
