It’s a lock-down to track down…

21+ days is a long time to stay in quarantine. Everybody is exchanging ideas about what one can do to pass the time away. I’ve heard some people say “Now is the time to make the most of Netflix and Amazon Prime”. Some scroll their thumbs on devices that surely gives them something to do but takes one nowhere. While others have rested enough to recover from their fatigue.

A city like Mumbai can really keep you on the run and at the end of the day you actually have no time for anything but to get some sleep and start the same old routine. But right now things look so different. Even as I was look at the chaos and panic the virus has caused the world, there is a good reason for this lock-down, it’s time to track-down. What do I mean by this? Well, it’s time to ascertain our walk and relationship with the Lord. It’s time we track down what have we really missed ?

Psalm 139:23-24

Search me, God, and know my heart;
    test me and know my anxious thoughts.
See if there is any offensive way in me,
    and lead me in the way everlasting.

In the Psalms, we see the heart of the psalmist and what is his main priority in life. I wonder what must have led David to write these verses, where was he? What was the situation that made David literally ask God to explore his heart?

When we are faced with a situation as grave as COVID-19 have we asked God to search our hearts? I believe this is our moment to bring who we really are in front of our maker. It’s time we give ourselves more to Him than the things of this world. It’s time we track down our first love- Jesus. It’s time  to track down the supernatural path. It’s time to track down how to be chasers of His extravagant heart. Brothers and sisters- it’s time for a real track-down of our spiritual lives.

Many distractions will creep in, but are we ready to put aside our desires and come in His presence? Are we ready to say to Him, Search me, O God, and look into my heart, test my thoughts and feelings! See if I am in danger of becoming unfaithful to you, and if so, get me back on the path you have shown us forever!
