Good News: A Church That Loves

Yesterday after our worship service at Queen Street Baptist Church, the leadership agreed to stop in-person worship services and go back to online only. This is because of the rising numbers of COVID-19 in Niagara.

That hardly sounds like Good News!

And yet it is. The reason that they decided to do this was not out of fear. A number of the people at that meeting would have been very happy to keep worshiping in-person.

The reason they made this decision was love, love for our congregation and love for our community. We are not doing this because the government is forcing us but because we want to keep people safe.

I will also say that some of the leaders were concerned about me. I am on an immuno-suppressant medication that puts me the high risk category. They didn’t want their pastor getting very sick from COVID-19.

This is heard. This means that we won’t behaving an in-person candlelight Christmas Eve service, which is one of my favourite services of the year. But love is often uncomfortable.
