GOD THE FATHER, AND HIS FAVOURITES!

Does God have favourites???
Does He listen more to some than others???
Does He love some more than He loves others???

So, when it comes to the matter of God’s relationship with people, we cannot deny the fact that sometimes it feels to us like He has a select few who seem to be His favourites… Not just because of the way He responds when they call but also because of the way He speaks of them and the way He guards them with His Holy Jealousy…

We know Scriptures declared: “…And there is only one God and Father, who is over us all and in us all and living through us all…” Ephesians 4:6 (NLT)

And though we believe God is not partial and does not show favouritism… We find even in Scriptures certain “special” people who seem to have found special favour in God’s eyes… And we can easily relate to the striking events of their lives and the uniqueness of God’s dealings with them… Some of which we can tell from their accounts the reasons God dealt so with them…

We can easily recall the stories of such; like Enoch, Abraham, Jacob, Joseph, Moses, Job, David, and Daniel, in the Old Covenant… And in the New Covenant, such like John the Beloved, Simon Peter, Paul the Apostle; just to name a few…

And though these men were not perfect people just like everyone else, but yet somehow in spite of their imperfections and failures, they so grew so close in their relationship with God that Abraham, for instance, was called ‘a friend of God’, and David was called ‘a man after God’s heart’; then the Apostle Paul was privileged to have so deep revelations of Christ much more than those who even walked physically with Jesus while He was on His Earthly ministry…

Be that as it may, the truth remains that just like our earthly fathers, God the Heavenly Father loves all His children equally, but relates and responds to them differently; based primarily on their levels of spiritual growth/understanding and submission to Him… And then based on the different abilities which He gave them with regards to His divine purposes which He predestined to accomplish through their lives; As the Apostle Paul wrote: “…But to each one of us, grace has been given as Christ apportioned it…” Ephesians 4:7 (NIV)

Just as a natural father would equally love all His children, but in relating with them as regarding critical matters of the family business that demands higher levels of responsibility, His heart would naturally tilt towards the son or daughter who has a better understanding of the business, such one he knows would place value on his words and would obey his instructions with meekness, regardless how ‘foolish’ they may sound… And this ‘preferential treatment’ would often show up in the father’s responses to requests and even in his distribution of inheritances…
So also with God, being the Almighty One Who already knows the hearts of all, knowing their tendencies and capabilities, and also knowing their past, present, and future… He would not just reveal His divine secrets to anyone simply because they asked, and He would rarely use anyone in a remarkable way who has not won a special place in His heart by their personal walk with Him…

Though we may easily and correctly account God’s selection of certain people purely to an act of His Sovereignty and Grace, because indeed He can choose whoever He pleases, however, and whenever He pleases, whether naturally qualified or not… But we can not also dispute the fact that more often than not, many of those who captured God’s heart, first had a personal testimony with Him; where for some He could go as far as vouching for them…

Like He spoke of Abraham:
“…For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the LORD…” Genesis 18:19 (KJV)

And of Job:
“…Then the LORD said to Satan, “Have you considered My servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, one who fears God and shuns evil?”…” Job 1:8 (NKJV)

And as it was written of David:
“…He raised up for them David as king, to whom also He gave testimony and said, ‘I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after My own heart, who will do all My will.'” Acts 13:22 (NKJV)

Of a truth, there would always be something in a man which attracts God to commit Himself to trust him above others with things of Eternal value… And of a truth, each man determines by their own choice how closely they walk with God and how close to His heart they will be…

Because with the Most High God who dwells in Eternity, Who is more concerned about things which have eternal significance than things of only earthly value; He would by His nature tend to reveal His best to those who are best aligned to His eternal agenda…

And as we may be aware that in this present days, nothing matters more to the Father than to find true sons and daughters whose heartbeat and passion is to see His Kingdom reign and His Righteousness rule on the Earth; declaring His love and His glory through Jesus Christ to a lost and lonely world that is growing darker and godless even as the end of the age approaches…

So in summary, I share the below Scriptures which highlights 3 vital requirements for anyone who desires to grow closer to the Father’s heart:

1. The Fear of God: “The secret [of the sweet, satisfying companionship] of the Lord have they who fear (revere and worship) Him, and He will show them His covenant and reveal to them its [deep, inner] meaning.”
Psalm 25:14 (AMP)

2. The Love for God: “Jesus answered, If a person [really] loves Me, he will keep My word [obey My teaching]; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home (abode, special dwelling place) with him.”
John 14:23 (AMP)

3. The Heart with God: “Blessed (happy, enviably fortunate, and spiritually prosperous–possessing the happiness produced by the experience of God’s favour and especially conditioned by the revelation of His grace, regardless of their outward conditions) are the pure in heart, for they shall see God!”
Matthew 5:8 (AMP)

…And without those 3 vitals in place, no amount of just praying, fasting, or even giving and seed-sowing can attract God’s special favour, because indeed, the journey to becoming one of God’s favourites begins from the above key areas.
